This weather station is located in Banksia Park collecting weather information specific to Banksia Park and it's neighbouring suburbs. I set up this weather station in Banksia Park because of the lack of localised recording and reporting of weather parameters like wind, rain and temperature. Because our altitude, and the style of the land in Banksia Park, the readings from Adelaide and Parafield where not representative. In saying this, it does not mean that the readings coming from the this station in this particular situation are "official". They do however give me a good picture of the differences between Parafield and Adelaide. It allows interpretations to be made of the data and eventually a relatively accurate reading and prediction.
This station has been collecting statistical readings since 3rd January 2008. Equipment and software used is:
- Dallas 1-wire barometer (using the MPXA4115A sensor from Freescale semiconductor)
- Dallas 1-wire temperature (using the Dallas DS18S20 sensor from Maxim-IC)
- Dallas 1-wire humidity (using the Honeywell HIH-4000-001 sensor)
- Dallas 1-wire Solar (using the Clairex CLD140 sensor)
- Inspeed Vortex Anemometer connected to a Hobby-Boards Dallas 1-wire controller
- Inspeed Wind Vane connected to a Hobby-Boards Dallas 1-wire controller
- RAINEW rain gauge by RainWise connected with a Hobby-Boards Dallas 1-wire counter
Prior to 1st Oct 2009, was using a Lacrosse WS2310 running in wired mode (instead of wireless to get higher frequency readings), but when the Anemometer stopped working (worn out bearing) it was time to change to something a little more professional.
The software being used is:
- Weather Display v10.370
- Weather Display Live Premium edition v6.02
- Saratoga-org PHP World Multilingual Sep 2008 scripts to present it all to you with a number of modifications by me.
The suburbs close by that will probably find this station useful are:
- Banksia Park, South Australia, 5091
- Tea Tree Gully, South Australia, 5091
- Vista, South Australia, 5091
- Fairview Park, South Australia, 5126
- Yatala Vale, South Australia, 5126
- Surrey Downs, South Australia, 5126
- Redwood Park, South Australia, 5097
- St Agnes, South Australia, 5097
- Ridgehaven, South Australia, 5097
- Houghton, South Australia, 5131
- Lower Hermitage, South Australia, 5131
- Modbury, South Australia, 5092
- Modbury Heights, South Australia, 5092
- Wynn Vale, South Australia, 5127
- Golden Grove, South Australia, 5125
Where one of the above suburbs is a link, it will take you to another private weather station operating in that suburb
Banksia Park is a suburb of the City or Tea Tree Gully which is in the North Eastern sector of the Adelaide Metropolitan Area in South Australia.
