NOTES ON THE WEATHER

FORECAST EXPLANATION:
On Friday an upper level jet-stream will produce areas of rain and isolated
thunderstorms northeast of Coober Pedy to Broken Hill, contracting to the far
northeast corner in the evening. A cold front near Ceduna is expected to reach
central districts around midday and extend to the eastern border in the early
evening. The front will bring scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms to
the southern agricultural area, with isolated showers extending across the
remainder of the agricultural area.

On Saturday, the rain will be confined to the far northeast, and will clear
during the morning.
A vigorous cold front is expected to move across southern and western coasts
during the afternoon and evening, bring scattered showers across the southern
agricultural area, with isolated thunderstorms near southern coasts. Isolated
showers will extend further north into the far south of the pastorals. Westerly
winds will strengthen about southern parts of the state and possibly reach gale
force about southern coasts with and behind the front.

On Sunday, cooler fresh to strong and gusty southwesterly winds are expected
with scattered showers and local hail and thunder over the South East District,
as the cold front moves over the south early. Isolated showers over the
remainder of the agricultural area and south of the pastorals, contracting to
the southern agricultural area in the evening. Showers tending scattered over
the agricultural areas east of Eyre Peninsula till evening as a high moves over
the western Bight.

Isolated showers over the agricultural area on Monday, contracting to the South
East district by evening. Cool with moderate south to southeast winds, fresh
about southern coasts.

Cumulative rainfall totals until midnight Monday are expected to be 15-25 mm
over parts of the Northeast Pastoral district. Falls of 2-10 mm are expected
over the remainder of the State, increasing to 5-15 mm over the southern
agricultural area. Falls of 15-30 mm are possible over the Mount Lofty Ranges,
the Lower South East district and Kangaroo Island.

The outlook for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday is for showers about southern
coasts to extend over the agricultural area on Wednesday with the passage of a
front.
